Cover Design of The Seamless Architecture Book

表紙カバーを、「大地の芸術祭・越後妻有アートトリエンナーレ」特別企画展である「2018年の〈方丈記私記〉」展に出品した 《多孔体：2畳⊂ 4.5畳》の制作型紙を用いてデザインしました。モックアップをいくつも作成して、試行錯誤を重ねました。表紙の製作は1冊目と同じく、 福永紙工さんにお願いしました。
この本は、イギリスのBeam Galleryにて開催された 「《アクア・スケープ》 ： 自然指向型建築」 展の展覧会カタログに日本語を加えて再編集した、『 Aqua- scape : The Nature-oriented Architecture 』の続編とも言えるもので、工学院大学藤木研究室およびF.A.D.Sが2010年以降に行ってきた活動についてまとめたものです。 １冊目と同じくイギリスのビーム美術館から出版されました。前著は、自然指向型建築という考え方に基づいて、わたしたちの2009年までの活動をまとめた本でしたが、今回の本では自然指向型建築というコンセプトは受け継ぎつつ、 ＜シームレス建築＞という重要な概念を提示しています。
This book, including its cover designed by Yukiko Sato, is beautifully crafted, presenting a new global trend in architecture —seamless architecture— while taking environmental issues into consideration, and featuring works that have won numerous international awards (including the highest awards). The cover, inspired by “Porous Manifold as a Japanese Tearoom” of our award-winning work, is created applying traditional Japanese ORIGAMI techniques.
